Pastor David C. Alvarez is currently pastoring a church in Downriver area called My Father's House Church located at 10950 S. Telegraph Rd. Taylor MI 48180. His burden for the souls of the Filipino community in this part of Michigan led him to answer the call of God in his life as a pastor. MFHC gave birth in his spirit in 2004 when he played with his Filipino band called “Friends and Families” at an annual celebration of Rizal Day, a gathering of more than 50 different Filipino organizations at Cobo Hall. A prompting of the Holy Spirit gave Pastor Dave the desire to minister to his own people preserving the traditional values of God fearing, people loving Filipino culture.
In December of 2005, Pastor Will McCulloch of Word of Grace Church was used by God to
open a door for Pastor Dave and graciously allowed him to utilize the building that he was
leasing for a morning service. As God moved the hearts of the owner of the building for an
evening service, Pastor Dave, together with his wife Lynn and children, who are all in
ministry, went to the church building for the whole month of January for praise & worship,
prayer and consecration. My Father's House Church was officially opened for the Filipino
Community and other ethnic race on the first Sunday of February that year. Six months
later, the building closed. However, God did not forsake His servant and directed him to the
He-Brews Coffee House Ministry on South Telegraph. My Father's House Church is a
fulfillment of his calling at this season of his life as a servant of the Lord. MFHC new
location  is at 22400 Ecorse Rd. Taylor, MI 48180.
In 1982, David Alvarez accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, filled with the Holy Spirit, and immediately called to work fulltime in the ministry. It was a fast growing non-denominational church pastored by Rev. Jonathan and Vicky Sebastian, called The JCS (Jesus Christ Saves Global) Outreach in Quezon City, Philippines. He ministered as a worship leader and the music director of the church. He met Lynn Sabangan during college days at the University of the Philippines; college of music, and in 1984 married and had three children, Kristine, Zee and Dave III. Both Kristine and Zaneta (Zee) were born in the Philippines in 1986 and 1987 with David III in 1995 who was born in Long Island, New York. And this completed The Alvarez Household of Faith.
In 1989, they moved to the United States with Lynn's parents in Brooklyn. Two months later, was led to join a multi ethnic church in Brooklyn. The Love Assembly of Brooklyn, pastored by Jay O'Hara, petitioned pastor Dave as Worship pastor. Subsequently, there were other pioneering churches that he worked with as music director and worship leader- Jesus Revival Center, with pastor Wayne and Gloria Reyes; The Spirit of Jesus Evangelistic, with pastor Ray and Dolores Ayling; Faith That Pleases God Church, with pastor Elcio and Brunie Salgado all in Brooklyn area, and Living Word Church, with pastor Joel Sadaphal in Queens area. 1989 until 2001 made the preparation for the Alvarez' family to embark a journey for a new assignment soon to be opened as ministers in Michigan.

While helping pastors in New York, David also worked as an Activities Director for 9 years at Ss. Joachim & Ann Residence, a 200 bed skilled nursing facility, run by Catholic Charities Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, NY. At the same time parents and children continued to minister together in small pioneering churches. In 1997, a prophecy from Steve Schultz of Bill Hammon Ministry was released. “It will not be a husband ministry, nor a husband and wife ministry but it will be a family ministry.” This prophecy came into fruition when the call to move to Michigan came to pass. God has blessed the Alvarez' with a heart of worship and a desire to serve Him.
In the summer of 2000, Pastor Will McCulloch's has invited  the Alvarez' to minister at Evangel Ministry, Taylor branch.
David, together with his family ministered in music at the church in Pardee, and on the same day, met with the Senior
Pastor then Rev. George W. Bogle. Upon Pastor McCulloch's recommendation, Evangel Ministries opened a door for pastor
Dave to work full-time ministry and offered him the position of a worship pastor. The Lord in this church used David's family
mightily as ministers in music and in the word. The Alvarez family was a portrait of how God wants to use families in His
kingdom. Many families are encouraged by how God moved in
their lives. There is no perfect family, as we all know, but the
Lord poured His abundant grace and mercy to a family who
has the heart to genuinely and earnestly serve Him. Presently,
Pastor Dave continued to work with Rev. George Bogle on
Nightvision Ministry that ministers prayers five times per week
from 12:00 to 3:00 a.m. as the Media and Prayer coordinator.
Pastor Dave at present ministers off the air on Fridays,
                                                                                                   from 12:00 to 2:00 a.m
My Father's House Church is touching lives of all races
in Downriver through the shepherding of Pastor Dave.
Lynn assists pastor in the day to day responsibilities of the
church. Kristine heads the Children Ministry and at the same
time sings alto at the worship team. Zaneta (Zee) is the head of the worship team and youth coordinator as well. While David III is the prodigy drummer of the church. There is a congregation of about 20 Filipinos and 10 Hispanics, Afro-American's and Caucasian altogether. The service is on Sunday evenings at 6 pm and a fellowship thereafter. Friday at 7 pm is Rated PG Young Adult/Youth Night. The vision statement of the church is to provide a place where people would love God with all passion, prayers and intelligence; a congregation that would help each other; and a people that would make a difference in their community, a house of prayer, a house of worship, for all people, for all nations. Its core value is building relationships: with God; with one another; with self and with the community. Biblical Counseling ministry by Pastor Dave and his wife just recently started and is affecting many lives in their congregation. Opening a praise & worship school of ministry with his children is one vision this church has - to equip children and the youth in the area of worship, with technical knowledge and spiritual application. My Father's House is a multi-culture church and if you are looking for a house drenched in the presence of God, a congregation who wants to dwell in the presence of God; who enjoys learning and obeying the word of God, a place to serve King Jesus, come and join us every Sunday at 6:00 o'clock evening at My Father's House Church.
